Tag Column Customization

The Advanced panel of the Columns dropdown box allows you to add columns showing Tags to your tables. The Tags can be shown in several different ways, allowing you to customize the view to your needs.

Overview

Before reading this article it is highly recommended to read and understand Tags and how to customize columns.

When you press the Advanced >> button in the Columns dropdown, the Add Tag Columns panel slides out:

The Add Tag Columns panel allows you to add new columns to show which Tags are applied to each row. There are four different styles of Tag column, and this panel allows you to create each of them.

Pressing the Add button will add a new Tag column to the column list on the left, with the properties given in the select boxes on the right and the appropriate style depending on the properties. To add more columns, change the select boxes and then click the Add button again.

Tag column styles

The following styles of Tag column can be created using the Add Tag Columns panel.

Show one Tag Type

Create a column showing Tags in the form Relationship:Tag by selecting:

  • Tag Type: select the Tag Type to show
  • Relationship(s): All
  • Tag(s): All

When you edit this style of column, you use the Tag Editor.

Show Relationships for one Tag

Create a column showing all the Relationships which one Tag has with each row by selecting:

  • Tag Type: select the Tag Type to show
  • Relationship(s): All
  • Tag(s): select the Tag you want to show

When you edit this style of column, you enter a comma-separated list of Relationships.

Show Tags for one Relationship

Create a column showing all the Tags which have a certain Relationship with each row by selecting:

  • Tag Type: select the Tag Type to show
  • Relationship(s): select the Relationship you want to show
  • Tag(s): All

When you edit this style of column, you use the Tag Editor.

Show one Relationship:Tag combination

Create a column showing tick boxes for each row which has a certain combination of Relationship:Tag by selecting:

  • Tag Type: select the Tag Type to show
  • Relationship(s): select the Relationship you want to show
  • Tag(s): select the Tag you want to show

When you edit this style of column, double-clicking toggles the Tag, i.e. applies the Tag if it isn’t already, and removes the Tag if it is.

Removing unwanted Tags columns

You can remove Tags columns which you don’t want anymore from the columns list by clicking on the small trashcan icon: in the Column sorting list.
